New York winters move the ground. A poured slab is one rigid piece, so movement shows up as cracks. A paver driveway is made of individual units with flexible joints, so it absorbs movement instead of cracking.
Repairs
If a utility line needs access or a section settles, pavers can be lifted and reset with the same material. Concrete usually requires cutting and patching, and the patch rarely matches.
Cost and appearance
Concrete is typically lower cost up front. Pavers cost more initially but offer far more design range and are generally the stronger choice for curb appeal and resale.
