What Makes A Driveway Last
Driveway failures are base failures. Vehicle loads concentrate at the tire tracks and the apron, so a driveway needs a deeper, better-compacted base than a patio ever will. We excavate to the depth the soil and use require, compact the stone in lifts, and only then set the bedding layer.
Drainage is the second half of the equation. Water that sits under a driveway in December is ice in January, and ice lifts. Every StoneSky driveway is graded to move water away from the garage slab and foundation.
Replacing An Asphalt Or Concrete Driveway
If your driveway is cracked, patched, sinking at the apron or holding water, replacement is usually more economical than repeated repairs. We remove and dispose of the old surface, correct the sub-grade, rebuild the base and install pavers with proper edge restraint so the field cannot spread.
- Removal and legal disposal of the old surface
- Sub-grade correction and re-compaction
- New stone base built to driveway depth
- Vehicle-rated paver field with soldier-course border
- Apron, curb cut and sidewalk transition
- Joint sand, compaction and final cleanup
Driveway Paver Materials
Interlocking concrete pavers are the standard for driveways because the interlock distributes vehicle loads across neighboring units. Brick and natural stone are available for the right home, and permeable systems are an option where drainage or coverage rules matter.
Driveway Paver Repair
If your existing paver driveway has sunken tire tracks, a settled apron or loose edges, it may not need replacement. See our paver repair and resetting service — we lift the affected area, rebuild the base and reset the original pavers.
